What to say in a letter to a judge concerning the death of my husband

My husband (and sister-in-law) were killed by a drunk driver in a boating accident. Three others were injured. I need to write a letter to the Judge explaining how this has affected me. I want to express myself but I could "write a book", so I don't want for the letter to be too lengthy. Help, please. Thanks
