What to do to become a very effective ESL teacher?

Hi everyone just need some advice on how to be more effective and efficient online ESL teacher...
I've been teaching ESL online for only more than 1 year, I'm not a graduate of BSED but I have knowledge and understanding in English, I believe I'm able to teach it and impart it...I started to love teaching last year and decided I want to pursue this career I want to study again to gain BSED or to have a certificate in TESOL, but due to financial deficiency I can't. Any advice? I'm teaching Koreans and Japanese students, young and old

Hi! I am an experienced teacher in the United States. I taught reading for 7 years. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I am also certified to teach English as a Second Language. My most recent teaching experience was in a culturally diverse school with over 50% English Language Learners.

Teaching online is definitely different than teaching in the classroom. However, in both places, it is important to understand each student's unique wants and needs and to meet those needs. Every student has different abilities, and every student can excel at something. Students need to experience success to be motivated to continue. Help your students set small goals, and then help them meet those goals!

When teaching a language, you need to devote equal amounts of time to both grammar and vocabulary. Both of these are important when learning a new language.Find activities to make learning fun! Make sure you are teaching your students how to use the English language in the real world.
