What tenses would you use in this sentence?

Hey there,

I'm not sure which tenses are correct in the following sentences:

1. I was happy/pleased that you have written/wrote what happened/had happened/has happened in your life.

2. I almost felt/have felt as if I was there with you (after reading / having read your letter)

I'll be much obliged for an explanation.

Thanks!
