Is it correct to say :
What size 'of a' book can this bookcase fit?

It's not the "bookcase" that is doing the fitting, it's the "book." So it would be better to say, "What size of a book can fit in this bookcase?"

I'd just sy, "What size book can go in this bookshelf?"a strange question to ask, though.
