What shoe size vs what size shoe?

Hello I would like to know which of this questions is phrased correctly:

1. What shoe size do you wear?

2. what size shoe do you wear?

# 1 sounds more familiar to me and grammatically correct too; however, I have seen 2 as well. Please let me know which one is correct?

You could say that one either way. I always use the second one, if that's of any interest to you. As it turns out, the second one is the one that is used much more often according to the Google Ngram Viewer.

To this native speaker of US English, number one is not possible. You don't wear a size. Number two is natural and the only way I ever put it.
