What oes "*** someone up" mean?

Sorry, I don't wanna be rude Emotion: zip it!, just heard this expression and someone told me it means confusing someone..

There's a similar one which is "screw someone up" (I'm not sure about the spelling )

For example my teacher told me one day: "He fucks you up" referring to a guy I'm in love with. Of course she didn't mean litterally Emotion: big smile

Can someone help me?
Thank you!!

" Bill Bryson even has several paragraphs devoted to this remarkable word in his charming book, The Mother Tongue. Your teacher almost certainly meant that your boyfriend was putting you in a state of mental confusion or distress - "he f** ed with your head" would be another way to say this. " If a burly man in a bar says, "You'd better stop looking at me that way, dude, or I'll f ** you up" it would be best to comply.

Assuming you mean "He f***ed you up", I'm slightly surprised that your teacher said that to you. Where I'm from, it wouldn't be very appropriate language for a teacher to use to a pupil.
