What means "fog of war" in a football manager simulation?

In the game "footbal manager handheld" there is a option to choose called "fog of war". I can translate it word by word, but I can't understand what it means in this context. Can you please help. Are there other meanings in other contexts?

in football manager if you enable 'fog of war' u will unlock stuff like sugar daddy and that kind of stuff
