Mary: Peter! How are you doing? Did you have breakfast? Emotion: smile
Peter: Wow! What makes you so happy today?
Wow! You're having something happy, right?

- Do the two sentences of Peter sound natural?

Despite the rest of the world's insistance that Americans always prefer the simple past, I'd also prefer "have you had breakfast" to "did you have breakfast."

Also, a simple: Why are you so happy? What's made you so happy this morning?
