Hi anyone,
What is a good way to explain that "to sound/sound" is not an action verb that takes an adverb? Is it a linking verb like seems?
Correct: His voice sounds good.?
Incorrect: His voice sounds well. X
Thanks,

Yes, it is copulative in that sense. Bear in mind, though, that it can be non-copulative: "The klaxon sounded twice, deafeningly."
Yes, in the sense like "His voice sounds good", it is a linking verb (sometimes also called copular verb).
In a less common sense, "sound" can take an adverb. For example, "the bell sounded clearly". Whereas the first sense is primarily concerned with perception, this is more concerned with the objective qualities of the sound.
