What kind of structure is this

He hung up the phone a frightened man.

She recovered from the disaster a more resilient person.

Are sentences like these grammatically correct? If correct, what kind of structure are these sentences?

The sentences are fine. I don't recall ever seeing a name for the structure, though. (That doesn't mean it has no name, of course!

  • ) In languages with more inflections a special grammatical case would be used.
  • In my native language, Finnish, the essive would be required, but I don't think that will help you a lot.
