What kind of judgment is this?
Hello,
I'm struggling to find the English term(s) which express(es) when someone doesn't wait for authorities to make steps in the person's interest and doesn't count on the way the law protects him, but acts on his own to dispense justice.
When people act as if they were the L a w or a judge with authority, deciding what was right from a person to do and what not, and they might even "do justice" in a situation.
What terms come to your mind? Please, could you help me?

One more question, can vigilante/vigilantism refer also to when there's no violence in a situation, just the fact that a person doesn't wait for the opinion of his superiors (which he should do) but makes a decision instead on his own, and also acts according to his own decision, but his action doesn't involve violence?
Example: X is Z's boss. Z should always ask

You can say the people "take the law into their own hands." In the example you give, in an office (where it's not really a question of law) you could say the person "acted on his own authority" or "bypassed/ignored the proper channels/procedure."
