What kind of association does Siberia bring you up?

Siberia means different things to different people. We cannot answer with your opinion, because we don't know how you feel about it.

Heh, that's funny you should bring up that topic - I live in a country that's adjacent to Siberia and word is around town that Siberia is a very cold place to live - you can literally freeze your rear end off living in Siberia and then some. Except for freezing, adverse weather and people with almond-shaped eyes, this place does not bring much to my mind.

You should do research on Siberi

Aside from the geographical facts, I think that most Americans think of Siberia as an isolated place to live, far from most civilization, and a sort of penal colony the Russians have used to send their "undesirables".

My main associations are: cold, bleak, desolate, sparsely inhabited, soviet labour camps

Strictly speaking, it IS part of Russia. But due to its remoteness (Siberia is a very far-flung place in comparison), people have come to think of it as a whole new country, that abuts on Russia.
