What it matters?

Hi, I have asked this before but not sure I explained myself well enough, so I'll give it another try.

I have this dialogue:

"Your father has just died."

"What does it matter?"

"What it matters?! He was your father!"

Is "What it matters?" grammatically correct and natural?

Just to be clear, the intention with the respond is to say that of course it matters. Hope you understand.
