What "it" indiciates

It 1892, Baptist minister Francis Bellamy wrote the Pledge of Allegiance as a patriotic oath. His original wording was "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, invisible, with liberty and justice for all."
I'd like to know if "it" indicates "one nation."
Thank you in advance for your help.

It seems to be in apposition to "the Republic (for which it stands)," whereas "indivisible, with liberty and justice for all" appears to modify "(one) nation."

Others may see it slightly differently.
