What is wrong with this sentence??
Hello, I'm studying for a test, and this was one of the practice questions, but I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it (and they said there is something wrong with it).
"Smoke could be smelled as we approached the house."

This is not incorrect, just awkward.
I think they probably want you to write as
"We could smell smoke as we approached the house."
