What is wrong here?

"If you don't get the joke at the beginning it's going to lose its sens if anyone explains to you" Is it correct from a grammatical point of view?

Off topic: "If you were driving a Tesla would it be called an Edison" I found this joke on youtube and one guy didn't understand the joke, I replied with the above phrase

If you don't get the joke at the beginning , it's going to lose its sens e if anyone explains it to you. This is grammatical and perfectly intelligible, but some aspects, such as the "If ... " combination, are not ideal stylistically.

  • Perhaps you could get rid of one of the "if"s by just saying this: The joke is going to lose its point if someone has to explain it to you.
  • The fact that they don't get it is implied by the word "explain" anyway.
