What exactly is a trough?

"It always amuses me when guys wait to pee in cubicles when there are spare urinals or space at the trough..."

this? I'm guessing you just stand in front of it to go? I've never seen one of this before.

I don't know what image you linked is showing but it isn't anything I would call a trough.

I found this googling restroom trough, but there wasn't much hits.

I guess it looks similar to the ones the animals drink from just mounted on the wall.
