Hi,

I'd say a 'consequence'.

Marriage is often, at least in Western culture, a consequence of love.

Perhaps in some other cultures, marriage is a consequence of a dowry ('I don't love her, but I want her money!') Well, actually, that occasionally happens in Western culture as well.

Best wishes, Clive
