What is the usage of "cause"?

0I've ever posted a thread about "disappointed" and "disappointment". Someone writed this sentence: He/She caused me a great disappointment. I think many other words can instead of 'disappointment", for example: excitement. I want to know: what's the usage of cause? Is there a native Englishman who could answer the question?0-

0In the sentence "He/She caused me a great disappointment", 'caused' means something has happened that has resulted in something else. But, in English we wouldn't say "He/She caused me a great disappointment". We would say "I was really/very/extremely disappointed with him/her".
