What is the usage of "Over" ?

Hello Everyone
I usually wondered and confused what the right meaning of "Over" is ?
it's should to say i know over's mean in dictionary but when it sticks to other words or verbs for instance : "Over time" and so on ........
this is new for me ,my intention is knowing the best way to realize and understanding when "Over' stick to and fro words or verbs
i hope you teachers and guiders to understood my intention
because i think i couldn't explain my question as well.
