What is the time on the clock?

Can we ask such question? Is it gramatically correct?
What is the time on the clock? What time does the clock show? The big hand shows the number of minutes, whereas the smaller hand the number of hours.
How to call something we put on the doorknob when we don;t want somebody to disturb us.

Thanks in advance

If you just want to know the time, then "What time is it?" is how you can ask.

If you believe the clock may be fast or slow, you could say "What times does that clock show/display?"

A "Do not disturb" sign. Or if you're in college, a tie or a sock.
