What is the term used to end a friendship?

I understand when you break up with your bf/gf (Relationship) you use the term 'break-up', but can you use it to describe the end of a friendship like 'I broke up with my friend jack the other day because ... blah blah' or is there better terms used to describe this kind of situations?.

Thanks.

Hello, Ahmed-- and welcome to English Forums. As Philip suggests 'to break up' applies to a romantic relationship. 'Fall out with' is good.
