What is the subject of this sentence?

What is the subject of this sentence? The adjective "relevant" ("to the topic of this book" serves as its adverbial complement)?

Relevant to the topic of this book was the observation that the ideas of being wronged by somebody else produced anger and a desire to retaliate.

The subject is "the observation (that the ideas ... )". The standard sentence order has been inverted, and "relevant to the topic of this book" brought to the front, probably to prevent it getting lost at the end of the sentence.
