What is "the rule of gold"?

At 2:06 of this video "Dear Future Generations: Sorry" (
the man say "I'm sorry that we put profit above people, greed above need, the rule of gold above the golden rule." What is "the rule of gold"?

I can't be sure but I take it to mean that those people who have gold (or money in today's world) make the rules, which are often unethical, so the rule of gold is basically an antonym for the golden rule.
