What is the right term?

Hello,

It's slightly uneasy for me to explain, but i give it a try

I have this question: when a soccer (hockey, whatever) team gains a new player, the headlines are: The team have new .....
In place of dots I'd like to have a term in the meaning of strenghtening the team. So can I say e.g. The team have new support/enforcement or not? And what are anoter usable words for it?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Fandorin.

What I'm looking for is something like synonym for acquisition.
