Hi,Look at the sentence below and please tell me why the article 'thes' are necessary? I think they are necessary but cannot lay out a clear and convincing reason? Is it because it is a part of a grammar sentence? Used grammatically?There are four animals drawn on the wall -- the black tiger, red peacock, green rabbit and white dragon.

In your example, unless the animals named have been previously and specifically discussed, "the" is not needed - it should be "a" - "a black tiger, red peacock...".

Here, 'a' would indicate 'one'. I would use it before each example, but I'm sure others would feel it isn't necessary.
