What is the name of a shop distributing chemicals?

Hallo

I know that a chemist shop is intended for dispensing pharmaceuticals. Could anyone state the specific general name for the shops when one can obtain chemicals (paints, acids, solvents etc.)? Are there any variants of this name depending on whether shops are located in the UK or in the USA for instance. I have never met such information yet.
