What is the meaning of this sentence ?

I couldn't understand the meaning of the sentence "I've never thought to use the verb 'overlook' in any way other than 'to ignore' or to 'pass over' ". (a menber 's replay ) Especially, how to translate the "in any woy other than"? The meaning of above sentence what I comprehand is "i 've never thought to use the verb'overlook' to replace the 'to ignore' or 'pass over' ". Am I right? No, it's the opposite. He says "in any way other than" which means he though it was the same as what follows. (And so did I, for that matter.)

I wouldn't serve you anything other than your favorite meals - The only thing I'll serve are your favorites.

I wouldn't use it in any way other than X - I'll use it only as X
