What is the meaning of intellectual generation

I would really appreciate it if someone could explain me what is the meaning of "intellectual generation". It seems as though this phrase is belong to some technical jargon. But I'm not precisely sure about it.

As far as I can gather from the excerpt that I can see at that link, "intellectual generation" means a group of similarly-aged intellectuals who are distinguishable (e.g. in terms of their ideas) from intellectuals of older or younger generations.
