What is the meaning of celebrate here?

Instead of relying on absorbed or reflected light, Dr Feld's technique celebrates transparency by looking at light that gets through unaltered. It does so by measuring a property called the refractive index.

General definitions of celebrate include "to praise" and "to commemorate", but both of them seem not correct here. What is the exact meaning of celebrate here? Thank you.

I think it simply means praise or appreciate.

You can achieve transparency only by using refracted light. When an object reflects most of the light it is considered opaque and you won't be able to appreciate/praise transparency with such objects.

It means "to display", or as Madhulk suggested "recognize".

Originally to celebrate/display transparency relys on absorbed or reflected light, now by Dr Feld's technique, it could be done by measuring its refractive index.

Hope it helps.
