What is the meaning of "breaking ties to the left"?
When I learned d-left hashing technique, I met a sentence "Place item in a cell in the least loaded bucket, breaking ties to the left." I can't understanding the meaning of "breaking ties to the left" in this sentence. The ppt contains this sentence can be found in this link: http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~michaelm/TALKS/Cisco2007.ppt. This sentence resides in page 5 of the PPT.
