What is the meaning of "as-yet"?

I found the following sentence on one of BBC articles that I've read. Thought, I could understand the meaning of the sentence without roughly, I cannot understand the meaning of "as-yet". Therefore, I would really appreciate it if someone could let me know what is the meaning of "as-yet". In addition, though I tried to find the meaning of this on the dictionaries, I couldn't find the word. Therefore, I guess this might be associated with some grammatical point that I don't know combining two prepositions.

Theoretical physicists believe that it might also be associated with an as-yet undiscovered sub-atomic particle. There is more than one concept for what this hypothetical particle might be. One is called a leptoquark, another is the Z' boson (Z-prime boson).
