What is the meaning of "a broad sweep of sand"?

It is talking about beaches.

From dictionaries, I know that "sweep of sand" means a continuous, probably long, area of sand.
How about broad?

Can I interpret this as "a wide, probably long, continuous area of sand"?

Thanks for any attention in advance.
