What is the fault with each of these passages?

I am working from an English exercise book and i need to know if i have answered the following questions correctly.

(copied exactly)

QUESTION:

what is the fault with each of these passages?

a) With powerful wings he flew like a lion to the rescue of his friend.

b) This firmly solid United Nations building, as it moves along the road of progress, will sweep away the evil winds of international hatred.

c) Just as we water each branch of a tree seperately in order that the whole tree may grow well, so we must provide money for each seperate department of this school in order that the whole school may develop well.

These sentences seem to have something in common. That is, they are of either metaphoric and simili construction that were incorrectly phrased, or worded. A lot of polishing is needed.

This sentence contains a misconceived metahoric construction, "like a lion.." but a lion does not fly.



b) This firmly solid United Nations building, as it moves along

I am not particularly fond of "lion flew...", for lions are not known to have wings. You may consider metaphors such as "....soaring like a eagle high in the sky".

This firmly solid United Nations building, This is not a grammatical sentence becasue you had no verb to bond the adverb and adjective together.
