What is the difference in meaning of "Was up all night" and "Have been up all night"

Hello, like the title above, I can't tell the difference when someone say: "I was up all night" and "I've been up all night". Can you help me? Thank you!

You might say I was up all night after the night is definitely over. It might be 10 AM, for instance. If your wife/husband wakes up at 4 AM and you haven't fallen asleep yet, you can tell her/him: I've been up all night as the night is not over yet.
