What is the difference between the words "they" and "them"?

There is a difference, but I'm struggling to come up with "rules" for how "they" and "them" are used differently. Anybody have any thoughts?

"They" is the subject case. "Them" is a complement. If you provide some sentences, we can correct you if there are mistakes.

This is the very basic in grammar. You shouldn't have to sturggle with this rule. They = subject used in a sentence and , them is used when it's used as an object

John (by himself) is watchin
