What is the difference between 'introduce' and 'impose'

Hi everybody,

I would like to enquire about the difference between 'introduce sg.' and 'impose sg.' . Suppose that we only consider the similar meanings. For example: when a new tax is imposed.

Is there any significant difference between these words in this case?

Thanks for your answer in advance.

Hi, Basically, 'imposed' suggests more that people don't want the new tax. Compare eg The government introduced a tax cut. Here' 'imposed' would sound odd, because people like tax cuts.
