What is the difference between "I am going to.." and "I will..."

Hello all again,

Would someone please help me with this questions again?

I was told once that 1) I will has a stronger intention than 2) I am going to.....

But, is one more formal than the other?

What is their difference?

thanks again

Hello again, Anonymous. How have you been? I'd say "will" is more formal, and has the stronger intention.
