What is the difference between construction and building

thanks in advance!

I suppose the difference is in the essence - we say "construction" when we mean some idustrial operations, structures, facilites, roads, or non-residential buldings for and we say "building" when it is about residential premises, isn't it? Though I'd always thought they are almost synonims
