what is the difference if i say,
1. I am done.
2 I have done

No complete meaning. You have to add more.

I have done my homework.
I have done the dishes.
I have done the laundry.

There are very few times when both versions are used. Generally, "is" indicates a status, and "has" indicates an action.

Although you may hear that in day-to-day conversation, a fastidious grammarian would probably insist that the sentence be rewritten as:

This task has been completed.

I've consulted several dictionaries for "complete" and none of them label the verb 'intransitive'. At least not yet...
