Hi. Please help. I think both of the pairs are correct. Are there any differences?

1. (asking God for forgiveness)
Forgive my sins.
Forgive me of sins.

2. He is related to a person whose job it is to take care of such matters.
He is related to a person whose job is to take care of such matters.

Forgive my sins.
Forgive me of sins. I wouldn't say this is wrong, but it sounds odd and uncommon. Maybe old-fashioned.
'For' is very common.
