What is the correct verb tense for this sentence

Many kind thanks for anyone who can answer the following question: which of the following seems more grammatically correct?

Even if the U.S. gets any support, it would be less than America's invasion of Iraq in 2003.

If the U.S. were to get any support, it would be less than America's invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Is it appropriate to use 'even if' in this subjunctive mood/hypothetical question?

Also, which is grammatically correct?
