What is the correct salutaion for email?

Hi all...

What is the correct way to start an email? is it Dear Sir/ Ma'am or Respected Sir/ Ma'am... Also in which cases, if at all, is Respected used as a salutaion?

There is no single correct greeting, but the appropriate greetings are the same as for letters: Dear Sir; Dear Madam; Dear Sir or Madam. Neither of yours are acceptable because of 'Ma'am' and the slash. They should read 'Ma d am'.
