What is the best option for non-native English speakers to learn phrasal verbs, vocabularies and idioms more efficiently?

Hi,

I learn English as a second language and in advanced level. My question is that whether I need to write down every unknown word in a paper? I usually never have time to review a long list of words(or phrasal verbs or idioms). Is it wise to look up unknown words using dictionary and never write them down and to let them to be learned just by reading texts. In this method I learn the known words' meanings but few days later when I encounter them again, I need to look them up again because I cannot remember what was its meaning when I saw them first time.

Alex John I usually never have time to review a long list of words(or phrasal verbs or idioms). Put the words and phrases on small language cards with English on one side, your native language on the other side. Make time to review them.

  • Alex John I usually never have time to review a long list of words(or phrasal verbs or idioms).
  • Put the words and phrases on small language cards with English on one side, your native language on the other side.
  • Make time to review them.
  • Otherwise, you'll never stop the annoyance you describe thus: Alex John but few days later when I encounter them again, I need to look them up again because I cannot remember what was its meaning when I saw them first time.
  • It's better to make time to review your language cards than to waste even more time constantly looking up the same words in a dictionary.
