I suppose the inquiry is about which phrase is more appropriate, 'female actor' or 'actress'. From my own experience, both are considered sexist, and you had best go with simply 'actor' and let the name reveal the ***.

I believe in the difference between the sexes. It is actress for a female and actor for a male. Whenever the news shows refer to one Paris Hilton she is always referred to as the Heiress to the Hilton Hotels. Maria Shriver referred to her mother as her heroine.

Now-a-days, female heroine is also called actor, so whatever you use is correct.

I have heard an interview of miley cyrus, where she says, she is an actor slash singer slash songwriter.

So, I guess it is not wrong to use actor for females. If the native speakers say, so we can.
