I suppose the inquiry is about which phrase is more appropriate, 'female actor' or 'actress'. From my own experience, both are considered sexist, and you had best go with simply 'actor' and let the name reveal the ***.

I have seen a number of both written and oral interviews with prominent female actors in recent years where they have made a point of saying they wish to be called actors rather than actresses. I'm not certain why it is such an issue, as I don't see anything demeaning about the term actress, but, apparently, there is some history inside the industry that makes this an issue for them. I believe in the difference between the sexes. It is actress for a female and actor for a male. Whenever the news shows refer to one Paris Hilton she is always referred to as the Heiress to the Hilton Hotels. Maria Shriver referred to her mother as her heroine.

Now-a-days, female heroine is also called actor, so whatever you use is correct.

I have heard an interview of miley cyrus, where she says, she is an actor slash singer slash songwriter.

So, I guess it is not wrong to use actor for females. If the native speakers say, so we can.
