What is "season"?

Hello. In Japan recently I have seen the word "season" on TV.

For example, "Fellow --season 1". (This is a drama series.)

This drama series consists of about fifteen episodes ( I mean it is about "one season.")

So I guess season means "series".

I wonder if you use this "season" the same way as in Japan.

Would you explain it or give me some examples?

Do you use "season" when you talk about movies, too?

Thank you!

Yes, a 'season' is a set of shows produced (for one year, actually-- 15 or a similar number of weeks). It is not applicable to movies in the same way, though they may talk of a 'season' as a period when a number of movies open at about the same time, as around Christmas.
