What is "quo"?

What is "quo"? Is it an abbr. for a word? I went to my dictionary but didn't find it.

eg. He may be willing to make decisions unilaterally, to change the status quo, which we oppose.

The whole Latin phrase, 'status quo' should be in your dictionary, under a separate entry, Flora. It means 'the state which is', or something to that effect, in Latin; in English, it means 'the existing/current conditions or situation'.
