what is pitutary in this case

Hi everybody, lately I 've been wondering about the meaning of "pituitary" in these sentences from brave new world.
"You should see the way a negro ovary responds to pituitary" and "
Spoke of those gradually increasing doses of pituitary
administered during the final ninety-six metres of their course".
Are two words "pitutary" in two sentences the same? when I first read the first sentence, I thought it had to be "Grume" but now I'm not sure. And if it's pituitary gland, so what is the response?
Please help me. Thank so much

Perhaps Huxley means 'the various hormones produced by the pituitary gland'. Or more likely he means actual pieces of pituitary gland. Note that he also refers to 'the massive doses of hog's stomach extract and foetal foal's liver'.

Do you realize that this novel by Huxley is a satire? The pseudo-scientific process he is describing has no scientific validity, and is mean to sound ridiculous.
eg the phrase 'foetal foal' sounds funny because of the alliteration. I'm surprised he didn't go further and talk about 'foetal foal's ********'.
