It seems to be some sort of personification of the day "Friday", as if you were saying ...

Is that in a book? It may be one of the literature resources.

Hi,

If it's any help, Daniel Defoe gave Robinson Crusoe a servant called Man Friday.

Another thought is that if you include the Playboy Calendar as a literary resource, maybe Miss Friday sounds like a cousin of Miss August?

Best wishes, Clive

IT used to be used as a job description 'girl friday' 'boy friday' meaning someone who would generally help out in the office and turn their hand to anything.

Haven't seen it for years though.

"Girl Friday" - great help for the Jumbo crossword in the Times, no 1025 - I'd never heard it before. Thank you! John
