Nothing. I can't believe I wrote that awful sentence. My only excuse is that it was written very shortly after the Great Tohoku Earthquake and nuclear disaster. Let me give you a new, good sentence:

My sister has a fatter chicken than that of my brother.

'That of' = 'that chicken belonging to'

I'm reading in an older philosophy book and came across a sentence in Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations, "By preferring the support of domestic to that of foreign industry, he intends only his own security;.." What does "to that of" mean in that context? Thanks!
